FAQ

Where are you based?

Outdoors on location in London and studio based in Hampshire.

If I'm shooting in London I have locations around the South Bank. For Hampshire, my studio is in Basingstoke, a couple of minutes walk from the train station.

If you need me to come to you, I'm more than happy to travel. Drop me a line or give me a call to explain where you are and we'll work it out.

How long is a session?

Usually between 2 and 3 hours. It totally depends on what kind of a roll we get on as the shoot progresses, but give yourself 3 hours.

If you're pressed for time and are looking to get a shorter session, give me a call and we'll see what we can work out.

What days and times do you work?

Monday to Friday whenever the sun is up.

If pressed, I can be talked into working a weekend...

What is your cancellation policy?

In an ideal world cancellations would never happen. But people do get sick, last minute auditions come along and prior commitments need to be put on hold.

If you need to cancel, as much notice as possible is appreciated. When you re-book, I may have to ask for a deposit (deductable from your final balance) as I have child-care and travel costs of my own to take into account.

How many pictures do you take?

Tons.

Colour or black and white?

I shoot on digital, so all the pictures will be available to you in both colour and black and white.

How should I prepare for the shoot?

For the week leading up to the shoot try to get as much sleep as possible and eat as healthily as you can. Drink plenty of water and try not to get too drunk the night before! 3 hour photo shoots with a stinking hangover aren't that much fun...

What's your turnaround time?

Photos will be uploaded to a private gallery on my website the same day and will stay online available for you to view for two weeks. Once you've emailed to let me know which three pictures you'd like retouching, I'll get to work. Fully edited pictures will be emailed back to you within a week. Often within a day or two.

Do you retouch the pictures?

Yes. I crop, colour balance, get rid of spots and blemishes and soften eye bags.

I work very hard to maintain your natural look - I absolutely hate photographs that make the subject look fake and airbrushed. You need to look like the same person that's turning up to the audition!

How much do you charge for processing extra shots?

The first three are included in the cost of your shoot. Any extra processing is charged at £15 per shot.

Do you do split sessions?

No. If the session is split, then your attention ends up being split between the person you're sharing with and the job in hand. I need all your focus to be on me and the camera.

If for some reason I can't think of you absolutely need to have someone there with you, drop me a line or give me a call to explain why. I'm sure we can work something out.

What should I bring?

As many changes of outfit as you'd like (although one or two are usually enough). Nothing with too heavy a pattern. Muted earth tones always work well - greens, charcoal, etc.

Also bring whatever hair product and make up you need for retouching throughout the session. Bring a mirror too. I'd also advise bringing along a handkerchief or tissues. Many a photo has been ruined by a runny nose or sweaty brow...

If it looks as though there's the slightest chance of rain I'd suggest you bring a brolly. Where we shoot will have cover, but I don't want that fabulous hair of yours to get ruined by a downpour on your walk from the station to the location.

Do you have facilities where I can change?

Yes. When shooting on location in London I have access to nearby facilities where you can comfortably change your outfit and shave your facial hair into whatever weird style you like.

My Basingstoke studio has bathroom and changing facilities on site.

Do you do any other sorts of photography?

Yes. My area of interest and expertise is the world of performance - rehearsal photography, production shots, backstage/on set photography. I also shoot weddings, events and street photography.

Are you VAT registered?

No. My £250.00 headshot fee is a flat rate with no hidden extra charges.

What are your rates for production and rehearsal photography?

Every job is different; depending on location, how long you'd like to book me for, how many shots you'd like taking, etc. If you're interested in working together, drop me a line or give me a call with some details and we can discuss pricing.

Do you offer any discounts?

I have a referral discount offer with certain agencies that send a lot of their clients to me. Check with your agent before booking to see if they have any previous contact with me.

I also offer a small discount to those at drama school or university studying to go into the industry.
